What I Look Like As An M&M

In the virtual world, it’s often helpful to give people a choice of what their visual presence is. Often referred to as an “avatar,” the image represents you to other settlers on the virtual prarie. Yes, you could just upload that one fuzzy photo of yourself that you sort of like. But creating your own image gives you the opportunity to become exactly the virtual person that you’d like others to interact with.

Many virtual event spaces are starting to understand this — Second Life, for example — and allowing you a very flexible and amusing process to become just what you’d like. I’m taller, thinner, and younger in Second Life.
